The Great American Chili Cookoff
Great American Chili Cookoff
I was thinking about writing something deep and meaningful for my first (technically, my second) blog post, but I decided against it. I just don't have enough time or energy for that right now.
What I do have time for, however, is a short post about the Great American Chili Cookoff. OK, technically it's not the Great American Chili Cookoff but the Whiskerino2005 Throwdown in Nashville. In just a few hours Justin and I will be leaving on a 12 hour drive to Nashville, TN to share the company of his bearded brethren.
This IS my Chili/Spam/Pizza Cookoff for all intents and purposes. Justin and I have always talked about doing something so awesomely ridiculous like driving to Austin, TX to eat chili with 250 morbidly obese individuals at the 35th annual Chili Con Carne Festival. I would wear my prom gown circa 1997 and be crowned Chili Con Carne Queen 2006!! I don't foresee that ever happening, but a girl can dream. The closest I'm going to come to achieving this dream of doing something spectacularly retarded is to drive from Norfolk to Nashville and hang out with scores of hairy men. I'm genuinely excited about this trip. Obviously, I'm excited to spend time with Justin. Go ahead, say "awww" and get it out of your system already. Anyway, we'll get to travel together and see parts of this country we've never seen before. As if that isn't enough, we'll be able to finally meet and hang out with the guys we've been joking and sharing anecdotes with for the past few months. I'm looking forward to this trip and the company I will keep this weekend. If only I could convince Mackle to include the word "cookoff" somewhere in the title...
You may be asking yourself, "After Whiskerino2005 has come and gone, Kim, what else will you have to look forward to?".
Dude, there's always Chili Con Carne Queen. Always.

well not all of the men there will be hairy, i'll be there!
Can't wait to see you, Joe!
It really was very nice to meet you in person. And not at all weird to drive to Nashville for such a trip. Think of all the times you will get to tell stories about Whiskerino at dinners for the rest of your life.
You're absolutely right, David. I'll have a great story to tell and many new friends to enjoy. It was great meeting you!
I promise to post again soon!
Kim
